Who's clinging to religion now?

Obama, one year ago:

You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them,... And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion...

Obama, August 20, 2009:

He told the religious leaders, "I need you to spread the facts and speak the truth."

"There's been a lot of misinformation," Obama said, complaining about people who are "bearing false witness."

"The Chickens are Organizing!"

Why is it that whenever normal United States citizens wish to step up and be heard, it is viewed as an organizational effort backed by a subversive group out to undermine the efforts of the well-meaning, all-knowing legislators. The current flap over the so-called 'outbursts' at town hall meetings makes me ill. Why shouldn't people ask their representatives to read the health care bill before they put their stamp of approval on it?

Frankly, I'm offended. The idiots in Washington have no faith in the intelligence and common-sense of the American people. Wait a minute!! Perhaps their lack of faith is rooted in the fact that enough 'intelligent' people were 'smart' enough to vote them into office in the first place. hmmmmm....

Demotivational

My friend, Nate, came up with this.

'Fishy, fishy.... "

Time to step up and do the right thing here. Report your neighbor, your co-worker, your kids for 'fishy' speech that spreads 'disinformation' about the proposed health reform bill. Do it now, before it's too late!!

Story

From the White House Blog:

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

I'm going to turn in my cat. He's been passing fishy information all morning. (Could be the tuna cat treats, but I can't be positive.)

We can never be sure that the opinion we are endeavoring to stifle is a false opinion; and if we were sure, stifling it would be an evil still. ~John Stuart Mill, On Liberty, 1859

Even more profound considering no one has seen the latest version of the bill and they don't plan to release it until they return from August recess.
